I have been involved with The Something Useful Project (SUP) since 2011. SUP is a non-profit arts organisation providing bespoke international residencies for UK-based artists. programmes offer professional development, cultural exchange, and collaboration with local artists, students, and institutions. The mission is to integrate arts into education, society, and industry while fostering innovation and cross-cultural dialogue. As an associate, I play a pivotal role is recruiting and assessing artists suitability for the role. (www.somethingusefulproject.org).
Working with G-Aid (https://www.generalaid.org), I coordinate the Greater Manchester division of the organisation. G-AID is a voluntary logistics network partnering with UK airfields to collect and distribute educational materials to community colleges in developing countries. Through regional depots, it enable schools to donate resources, engage in live video exchanges with recipients, and witness the real-world impact of their contributions. Working with partners to implement eco-friendly technologies for off-grid schools.
At it’s core, cross-cultural collaboration, resource reuse, and empowering communities through education. Donations support learning, vocational training, and scholarships, particularly for young women in West Africa. Unsuitable materials are repurposed for outreach or second-hand school shops, preventing landfill waste while creating new opportunities. Collaborating with MSIS Shea, a Ghanian social enterprise, I work with international companies to help promote the sale and distribution of organic shea butter. (https://veganbutter.market)
